My Octoptus Mind are a Bristol-based experimental psych outfit that dropped their third full-length album in November 2023. It’s an album that freely disrespects the norms of rock, with influences from prog and post-punk finding their way into the release, whilst remaining lyrically hard-hitting throughout. Sitting on the other end of the seriousness spectrum was the album’s closer, ‘Sabertooth Monkey’, which was our highlight; a chaotic cut filled with thick bass and bizarre lyrics that only the band can put into words: “The demystification of art by explaining the art will now be explained by the art. We think you the listener should befriend a llama, buy a motorbike and take to the open road, drink diesel for breakfast, and headbutt a seagull.” You’re free to interpret that however you like, but seriously, don't do any of those things. -Dan Peeke
